The Ever Bilena Matte Lipsticks have been around for quite sometime. In fact, it had already been in existence back when I had first moved to the United States, which was seven years ago. I don’t remember when the line exactly first launched and how many shades they initially started with, but as of June 2017, there are 24 active shades available in stores.
Currently, I have categorized three lipsticks under the EB Matte collection as berry, namely Vivid Violet, Vogue Diva, and Posh Plum.
Ever Bilena released the shade Vivid Violet in March 2016 when berry lipsticks were beginning to become a trendy and acceptable every day lip color. It is also the first bold color offered by the brand during a time when Ever Bilena only had safe pinks and reds in the matte lipstick portfolio.
Vivid Violet is an intensely rich purple color that has great pay off, a couple swipes already go a long way. The formulation provides a nondrying, velvety matte finish with a faint powdery vanilla scent.
At first swipe, it appears on my lips exactly like the color indicator of the Vivid Violet lipstick cap. However, I guess since I am slightly acidic, I noticed it turn darker on me hours after initial application. Regardless, its deep plum shade can make a mestiza‘s complexion lighter and brighter, while it playfully accentuates the overall look of darker skinned morenas.
About this time last year, Ever Bilena came out with three more shades, two of which are included on this list of berry lip colors, Vogue Diva and Posh Plum; the third one being Sexy Nude, which has more of a pinky peach hue.
Vogue Diva was conceptualized to give a darker option to the popular EB Matte Lipstick shade in Dusk. As it turns out, unless you draw on concealer to prime your lips, the actual product has more of a vampy wine color with red undertone versus deep burgundy as is seemingly displayed on the lipstick packaging. It is more burdungy on me because I applied EB Advance Stick Foundation to flesh up my lips. The shade is very comparable to MAC matte lipstick in Diva.
Posh Plum, on the other hand, has a bold berry color that is borderline purple and pink. It looks like a deeper, toned down EB Advance Supreme Lipstick in Pink Punch and a brighter version of Ever Bilena Ultra Matte Lipstick’s Sassy. It can be darker than my actual lip swatch if you don’t apply foundation or concealer on your lips beforehand. It also works as a dupe for MAC’s Retro Matte lipstick in Flat Out Fabulous.
In general, the Ever Bilena Matte Lipstick line is not transfer-proof, but it does not bleed. All three lipsticks are creamy and have pretty good longevity, maintaining opacity for up to six hours. It is very lightweight on the lips and buildable, so reapplication is easy and does not cause flakiness. While it does come off when consuming oily foods throughout the day, the berry EB Matte lipstick shades leave evident stains on the lips.
These berry colors are priced immensely affordably at $3.30 USD or P165.00 in Philippine Peso each with a net weight of 3.6g. The complete Ever Bilena Matte Lipstick collection is available in all Ever Bilena stalls in leading retail outlets nationwide!
